Knife Sharpening with Kyle
I've been waiting for this tutorial for a while. Knife sharpening is an art. Electrics and motorized devices do no service for good high carbon blades. I didn't know anything about what to look for to sharpen knives with stones. At our Homestead Gathering Kyle spent nearly a hour showing us how to identify a dull knife, sharpen it with a the correct stone and hold the blade at the proper angle. Dull blades be gone!

I learned to sharpen knives and tools from a very good friend as well. He set me up with a set of King Stones, from Hidatool.com. An 800 Grit and a 6000 Grit. Good stones are a worthwhile investment.
I ended up getting bit by the sharpening bug and started getting old axeheads and knives and repairing them. First with a file, then 200 Grit Diamond, 800 than 6000. Depending on the knife or axe sometimes even a leather strop.
The king stones are much better than the ones they sell at "hardware" stores and are still reasonable at less than $30.
Sharp tools are a blessing and knowing how to keep them that way is priceless.
