PIMP - power in my pocket. Wendy named it. My soon to be released battery tester, charger and desulfator. It's designed to charge battery banks from 1-100V at a constant current of .5A. When I'm confident the firmware is stable I'll release the full design files, source code and bom.

I just stumbled on your site. I just started to look at a solution for battery problems I've been facing over the years and am very interested in your work on this. Do you have other posts on the PIMP?
I also live in the desert, but the one over in Arizona. I also have a blog where I talk about the various projects I have going on.
Take a look, desert-home.com
Hi Dave,
Good to hear from you. I added your blog to my RSS feed. I like that you are carefully monitoring your utility usage using pachube and xbee. I've done projects using those as well. They are great tools.
I believe Da Pimp can help you. It is float charger with adjustable voltage settings so you can keep your batteries in the barn charged up. I'll be releasing all the schematics and source code soon. At the moment I'm still adjusting a few things with the design. I've blown up two hardware programmers and melted one relay and that is with a safety fuse. I don't want to release the design files until I feel it's safe.
