Incredible.

For fun, we've been going to local auctions. In rural areas, they seem to happen almost every night somewhere in a 50 mile radius. It's a cool public event that doesnt cost anything.

Here's one we went to last weekend: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ryanishungry/5357998505/

Usually stuff is pretty interesting, Gun collections, old wood furniture, vintage crafts, wool blankets, tools. But this night they were selling off some poor person's stuff. It was coffee mugs, plastic containers, bath mats... And people were paying $1-$3 for each item.

These are hard times in rural areas. Many folks around here live on less than $10k a year. Making ten bucks is important.
