
Tomato Dehydrator

We're giving the outdoor air dehydrator a go on the last tomatoes of the season. Though we overproduce solar power this time of year and could use the electric dehydrator, the volume of tomatoes fits best with the outdoor dryer.

This time of year too, If you have any sort of heat, you wind up with extra dry air. Took me years to realize that whole Relative humidity thing. People kept talking about how heaters dried the air, but its not that simple. Even when its say 20% RH outside if that at 40F and your inside is at 70F, once that air is warmed up to 70F its probably closer to 10% RH, and when the difference grows so does the gap, especially when outside hits below the frost point because then that small amount of moisture precipitates out of the air.
