The Coffee Roasting Shadow

I've noticed that roasting coffee in the fall takes a hell of a lot longer than doing so in the summer. Normally I roast outside in the battery dome in my $4 thrift store popcorn maker. In the summer I can roast a batch of bean in 4 minutes this time of year (lows in the 40s) it takes me over 7 minutes. The ambient air temperature seems to have a significant effect on roast times.
