I have a sizable collection of old 'dead' laptop batteries thanks to my neighbor Davey. Today I repacked a old iRobot battery which two of the 8 cells were looking really weak. It only takes a few minutes and makes a world of difference. Now my iRobot can run for over two hours thanks to the pair of iRobot packs that I've dumped the NiMH cells and repacked with lithium.

Can one rebuild/recharge old 18v Delta shopmaster battery packs so they can receive a charge again.

I'm a neophyte in this area, but wanted to know if it's even possible.

Sure,

Those are NiCD so you can you have lots of options for repair.

- zap with welder
- zap with desulfator
- repack with fresh NiCD cells

You can also purchase already repacked unit and send in your original to save some cash.
