Soil Block Press Test

- river sand
- peat moss
- red clay from our yard
- hummus

I pre-soaked the clay in water to hydrate it. This left me with enough excess moisture to make a reasonably strong block. The dozen blocks were then put into our funky salad bowl green house. I planted red winter kale and a boston lettuce. I bet both plants come up quickly.

Hi Guys, I'm wondering what you used for the Soil Blocks? Is this a tool that can be made?

I drove past the "structure" today and saw life in there. Perhaps I'll stop by next time I'm in town if I see you in there.

We used a $30 4 way block press from http://www.pottingblocks.com/ . They were back ordered and it took about 3 weeks to arrive. There are DIY ways to make one, but these seems a lot reliable and much faster.

Stop by when you see us in the yard.
