The scrap market has collapsed. We visited our friend Jason who lives about 10 miles south of us. He was telling us how he used to get $216 a ton for scrap steel and now is lucky to get $40. We helped him out by loading up our truck with a old 55 gallon drum and lots of angle and flat bar steel. Mish's blog also mentioned today how aluminum has dropped from $0.80 a pound to $0.40 along with cardboard that went from $135 a ton down to $35. Even plastic bottles have changed from $0.25 a pound to $0.02.
