i love ecotopia, can't wait to read the Fifth Sacred thing, and let me recommend to you a great post-apocalyptic book called "fatal harvest" taking place in the Seattle area. coincidentally I have long wanted to make a movie about a post-apocalyptic world in which survivors of the collapse leave cities and find "sustainable communities" thriving, and which take them in. When I read this book, i was blown away that it had already been written! :)

by the way there are two books out there called Fatal Harvest. The one I am talking about is not to be confused with the one about Agriculture.

Here's a link to Amazon:

I'd add Farnham's Freehold - Heinlen

Pulling Through by Dean Ing is a great read, and Dean has added all of his how-to information to the back of the novel. It is very informative. It is out of print but you can get a copy of it from online used bookstores for about $20 in good shape. Well worth it. One of those books that teaches while it entertains.
