We made a mistake when planting carrots. The carrots were too close together and we didn't thin them out early in their development. We did get a few normal sized carrots, but many of them ended up like these.
You know, cultivated plants are grown for size not the content. Plants growing in the wild are just far superior to the cultivated ones because they have more minerals, vitamins etc.
Plants supposed to grow back to what they where - perfect - before they were altered by us. So expect them to get smaller when years go by. ;)
But true, those carrots on the picture where grown wrong.
I got this info from a old man ( vegetarian ) and books from Anastasia - http://www.ringingcedars.com/
You can see it yourself when comparing weed to any green salads in the supermarket. The latter is light green, very big and filled with water.
The old man teached me to eat some species of weed. I was amazed. I still am :)

this happened to us. we still ate the carrots. we also had to make sure we were planting in loose, sandy soil.
