Wendy had me water the yard today in preparation for her trip to Sufi school. It takes a good thirty minutes to water all the plants, trees, and mulch. Hopefully we will automate this at some point.
Shouldn't be hard to automate. Run some tubing with holes poked in it around your plants, use a 555 chip and a solenoid to switch on the water once a day.
Quick question, do you collect rain water for your plants? How often does rain fall where you live?

Yeah, you are right. I want a little more than the 555 so that I can have a easily programmed control panel to play with with lots of lights.
