Solar Bread

Ryanne Hodson of RyanIsHungry gave me a great recipe for a no-knead bread. It is very popular on the internet. I made one slight variation and instead of putting it in a standard kitchen oven for 45 minutes, I put the bread in my solar oven for 1.5 hours. Four ingredients: - 3 cups bread flour - ¼ teaspoon yeast -1¼ teaspoons salt - 350mL of water

I may have to give this a try in my solar oven. I've made this bread before and love the hard crust.... how did it turn out in the solar oven? And did you pre-heat the dish before you started cooking the dough?

The bread turned out great in the solar oven. So good that we have made it many more times just to proove to ourselves that we could.

I do not preheat the bowl, only the oven up to about 250 or 300F. By mid-day the oven is really cooking and can easily hit 350F.

I am just using the thin aluminum metal bowls that you see so often. The bread still comes out with a very nice shape.
